2011 Victorian Drama League Awards Night
Eleven members attended the Victorian Drama League Awards Night to see how their entry "Deathtrap" was received. We were able to travel in comfort on a Neptours bus which made the evening a great group activity. A good night was had by all, even if the only thing we won was a door prize bottle of wine.

2011 Christmas Party
President's Message...
Once again a very successful Xmas BBQ enjoyed by a modest number of members as you can see by the photos. A lot of fun was had with a lot of good food & fine beverages. Thank you to Gary for the cooking on the BBQ – a job very well done although it was with a fine supervisor myself J Thanks to the girls for all the help they gave us xx

Alan & Nancy Awarded Life Memberships

At the after-party for Deathtrap in May 2011, Alan Tonkin (left) and Nancy Fenn (right) were awarded life memberships to SPP for their long and dedicated support of SPP dating back over 10 years.
2010 Christmas Party:

Well another end of year party is upon us and we are looking forward to an exciting two years with our first production “Death Trap” directed by our very own Kylie Knoble. Then we have Mouse Trap at the end of the year which is a play that been running non-stop for 60 years in London and is still going, this is a coup for SPP, thanks to Sally for securing the rights.
2012 is our Diamond year. Yes! SPP will have been going for 60 years. We do have a Diamond committee who will be meeting early next year. If you have any suggestions on how we should celebrate our 60th Anniversary, please contact any member of the committee.
The Christmas party was a great success as you can from the photos. We all had a lot of fun with a raffle at the end. Congratulations to Bonnie who won the first prize.

Jim Tart's Farewell Dinner:

Well, what a nice night we all had at Jim Tart’s farewell do. It was very well attended. First there was a meal, then came the speeches, then the came the Oscars and songs. At times dear Jim was quite overwhelmed. So we do say farewell to Jim who is going back to his homeland for good and no one can say he didn’t give Aus a fair go - 59 years to be exact. Although we all wish him well he will be missed by a lot of people from all different walks of life as well as all the different theatre groups he has worked for. The longest speech of the night was the reading out of the names of all the plays he has done for SPP over the last 40 odd years. Not only has he acted in them but also done set building and front of house for the ones he wasn’t’ in. Jim was also a life member of SPP and a very active member for the group.
You have been a very good friend of SPP over the years, Jim. Friendship isn't one big thing – it’s a million little things. And they will always be remembered by us. So farewell, Jim. Have a very safe trip and a wonderful life.
Tony Staunton

Jim is presented with an "Oscar" by SPP President, Tony Staunton.
